The time between the “meet and greet” Marla described and the first real date was very strange.

It was about a week before we would have our first real date. During that time we sent more emails and text messages than we really had any business sending. At the time I would have simply said I was bored and nothing better to do. I imagine that she would say the same thing. I guess it doesn’t matter why we did it. What matters is the result. We actually got to know each other.

The high point of this period is the introduction of the “plushies.”

For those of you who don’t know, plushies are people who have sexual hangups about stuffed animals or even dress up like animals (think school mascots) and have orgies. Seriously.

I had read an article about this in Vanity Fair. Somehow it came up and I sent her a link to a plushie website.

The upside? She didn’t run away screaming. If anything it set the stage for so much that was to come.

Outside of our communication there was one big development.

Marla’s sister and her husband were visiting. She went out with them and her douchebag pseudo boyfriend. The result was that the sister and douchebag got into a fight and Marla punched her sister.

It isn’t hard to imagine why the sister has been on my side since the day she heard about me.
